Day1

Ha Giang to Dong Van

Begin at Numa Hotel and travel through Tham Ma Pass, Quan Ba Heaven Gate and remote mountain scenery before an evening in Dong Van.

Enjoy breakfast, Vietnamese coffee and tea. Your main luggage is stored securely at Numa Hotel; bring only a small rucksack for the tour.

Safety briefing

Meet your guide, review the route and plans for the day, and get fitted with your helmet and safety equipment.

9:00 AM
The adventure begins

Leave Ha Giang and travel through limestone mountains, valleys and small villages, with regular photo and refreshment stops every 30–45 minutes.

Morning
Tham Ma Pass & Quan Ba Heaven Gate

Take in dramatic views across the Twin Mountains. Depending on conditions, visit a traditional H’Mong village or explore Lung Khuy Cave.

Enjoy a mixture of Vietnamese and western dishes. Dietary requirements can be catered for when arranged in advance.

4:00–5:00 PM
Arrive in Dong Van

Check into your accommodation, relax or explore the old town before dinner around 7:00 PM. Weekend evenings can include music, dancing and celebrations in the market square.

Day2

Dong Van, Ma Pi Leng Pass & Du Gia

One of the most spectacular days of the Loop, combining the Nho Que River, Tu San Canyon, Ma Pi Leng Pass and the famous M Bend before a night in Du Gia.

Travel deeper into Ha Giang with regular viewpoint and refreshment stops.

Nho Que River & Tu San Canyon

Take a peaceful boat trip through the canyon, or depending on conditions enjoy a traditional bamboo rafting experience. Swimming may also be possible.

Experience one of Vietnam’s most famous mountain roads with extraordinary views over the Nho Que River far below.

Du Gia to Ha Giang

A relaxed final day featuring Du Gia Waterfall, quieter villages, Yen Minh Pine Forest and one last waterfall before returning to Numa Hotel.

Border Area Permit

Foreign travellers may need a border-area permit for parts of the Ha Giang Loop. The Numa team will prepare the paperwork before your tour. Please bring your passport and follow any document instructions sent by our team.

Self-Rider Documents

If you plan to ride yourself, you are responsible for carrying a valid motorcycle licence and the correct international driving permit recognised in Vietnam.

What to Bring

Bring a small rucksack, ideally no larger than 35L. Your main suitcase or luggage can be stored securely at Numa Hotel. Numa provides waterproof clothing and a waterproof cover/bag for your luggage during the tour.

Is the Ha Giang Loop suitable for beginners?

Yes. If you’re new to riding, you can join one of our experienced Easy Riders and enjoy the journey as a passenger. Confident riders with the correct licence can also choose to ride their own motorcycle.

All of our tours include your motorcycle or Easy Rider, fuel, accommodation, meals during the tour, entrance fees and guidance from our local team. You’ll only need spending money for personal purchases and drinks.

The best tour depends on your schedule. Our 2 Day / 1 Night tour is perfect if you’re short on time, while the 3 Day / 2 Night tour offers the ideal balance of scenery and local experiences. The 4 Day / 3 Night tour gives you the most relaxed pace and visits even more hidden locations.
